چکیده

The transient evolution of perturbations to steady lubrication flow over a topographically patterned surface is investigated via a nonmodal linear stability analysis of the non-normal disturbance operator. In contrast to the capillary ridges that form near moving contact lines, the stationary capillary ridges near trenches or elevations have only stable eigenvalues. Minimal transient amplification of perturbations occurs, regardless of the magnitude or steepness of the topographical features. The absence of transient amplification and the stability of the ridge are explained on physical grounds. By comparison to unstable ridge formation on smooth, flat, and homogeneous surfaces, the lack of closed, recirculating streamlines beneath the capillary ridge is linked to the linear stability. © 2005 American Institute of Physics. Non-linear Analysis of Stability in the Islamic Banking Industry

Stability analysis is one of the most important fields of study in the Islamic banking and finance industry. For measuring stability in Islamic banking, we introduced, for the first time, an Islamic banking stability index (IBS) during 2013 to 2016 which use all CAMEL factors and so seems to be more comprehensive than Z-score stability index which dominantly used in the existing literatures. To...

Transonic and Supersonic Overtaking of a Projectile Preceding a Shock Wave

In this paper, two-dimensional and axisymmetric, time dependent transonic and supersonic flows over a projectile overtaking a moving shock wave are considered. The flow is simulated numerically by solving full time averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The equations are linearized by Newton approach. The roe’s flux splitting method, second order central difference scheme for the diffusion terms, an...

Unsteady Wave-Driven Circulation Cells Relevant to Rip Currents and Coastal Engineering

The technological objectives of this project are to investigate the mechanics of wave-driven flow on complex topographies. Specifically, we are examining the occurrence, forms, and detailed causes of flow instabilities over complex topographies; the influence of three dimensional topographical features on large scale flow features, the forms and utility of simplified expressions in predicting f...

Scaling properties of coating flows in rectangular channels.

We present an experimental study of the aspect-ratio dependence of two-phase displacement flows in channels of rectangular cross section. Above a buoyancy-dependent threshold Ca[over ;]_{t}, we find that the bulk features of the flow depend only on a modified capillary number Ca[over ;]=[1+0.12(alpha-1)+0.018(alpha-1);{2}]Ca, where Ca is the unmodified capillary number and alpha is the aspect r...
